After months of hard work the Northern Media team is delighted to launch a brand new e-learning website for NHS Wakefield that has been designed to for support workers who work with adults that have learning disabilities.
The new website, which was designed to promote best practice for support workers, includes a series of modules that the user will work through before taking a test at the end of each module block. This method of e-learning training aims to equip support workers with up-to-date knowledge and information to support people effectively when accessing primary and secondary health care. Additionally, the training aims to enable support workers to understand their role in facilitating, maintaining and improving an individual’s health. The first set of modules relate to meeting the physical health needs of people with learning disabilities.
Marie Gibb, Strategic Health Facilitator for Wakefield, said:
“I was recommended the design and web development services of Northern Media by the Wakefield NHS Clinical Commissioning Group after they had previously carried out web design work with the department. They took a keen interest in what we were trying to achieve with the e-learning site and managed the whole project from checking the module content, to filming the case study story and even taking the tests! I would have no hesitation in recommending their services, and hopefully we can continue our growing relationship in the future.”
The Northern Media marketing team spent a day filming in a local supported living service in Wakefield and also at Pinderfields Hospital. The film tells the story of support worker Molly her responsibilities and daily routine of supporting John, who has learning disabilities and other health conditions. The film showcases the obstacles she has to overcome and manage in order to help John access appropriate health care in a timely and effective manner.
Jonathan Scott, sales director at Northern Media, added:
“This is the second project we have done with NHS Wakefield, with both of them being jobs we have thoroughly enjoyed. Learning from some of the module content, filming with John and developing the tests have proved to be rewarding and it was a pleasure to be involved in such a worthwhile project that’s sole aim is to develop the knowledge and skills of support workers.
“We look forward to working with the NHS Wakefield team on developing this site as we continue to add relevant modules to develop local support workers skills and knowledge.”
