SEO campaign saw traffic growth for MJ Backhouse
Based in Selby, North Yorkshire, MJ Backhouse are one of the leading providers of pest control and environmental management services in the UK. Serving both the domestic and commercial market, they are a family run business with over 30 years’ experience. MJ Backhouse approached Northern Media in 2010, as they needed some help driving traf c to their new website, with the ultimate objective of generating more inbound leads. In particular, they wanted Northern Media to focus on growing the number of ‘out of season’ commercial contracts.
In the rst instance Northern Media undertook a comprehensive keyword analysis to assess the traf c opportunities on Google for pest control services. The second stage was to do a complete design and technical (SEO) overhaul of the website in the context of the target keywords. Following a complete content re-write, Northern Media produced and implemented a content strategy, which would see regular blogs, industry news, case studies, testimonials, FAQs, resources, location content added to the website every week. The nal stage was to implement a link building and social media strategy which focused on improving the trust ow of the website.
Website traf c has continued to grow between 10% and 20% year on year, peaking at 3,500 hits (7,500 impressions) during summer months, generating in excess of 500 inbound enquiries every month. 100% of the 30 target keywords appeared on page one within 18 months of launching the campaign. The number of out of season commercial contracts has grown in excess of 10% year on year, which has increased low season productivity and pro tability. As a consequence of the success of the SEO campaign, MJ Backhouse also approached Northern Media to manage their social media campaigns, email marketing and digital & print advertising, which we have been managing since 2011.
