Up Close & Personal
I'm Ewan Burkinshaw
Name: Ewan Burkinshaw
Position: Account Manager
Worked at Northern Media since: February 2016
Key responsibilities within Northern Media: Account management, and everything that entails.
Biggest achievement: I coach strength sports as well as competing myself, whenever one of my athletes does well in competition I feel a huge sense of achievement.
Previous roles: I’ve worked all over the place: dish washer, administrator in an abattoir, door security, bicycle mechanic, behaviour supervisor in a school, creative writer and few more…
Loves: Picking up heavy things and eating all the food. Learning. Being outside and exploring. Craftmanship and seeing a thing done well.
Hates: Being injured from picking up heavy things. Ignorance. Noisy eaters…
Secrets of success: I’ll let you know when I feel I have succeeded at something. Being fluid and learning from my mistakes has got me this far.
Something people don’t know about me: I’ve got a pet rabbit called Karen.
What’s the best thing about working at Northern Media? Cheesy as it sounds, I’ve worked with some awful people in the past, and I’ve found that the people make the place. So I’ll have to go with the team.
If you didn’t work at a marketing agency what would you be doing? No doubt stuck in the cycling industry. Which was fun for a time, but ran its course.
Favourite quote: 'The world of learning is so broad, and the human soul is so limited in power! We reach forth and strain every nerve, but we seize only a bit of the curtain that hides the infinite from us.'
